چکیده

Resistance spot welding studies at varying current with an 8 mm electrode on steel grades DP980, DP690, TRIP980 and TRIP780, established that peak strength sound weld could be achieved a range of 9 to 10 kA, where the nugget diameter was between 6.9 7.5 mm. The joint efficiency, measured as hardening ratio highest in TRIP690 2.22 for higher grade it 1.37 1.51. softening HAZ associated tempering preexisting martensite, 0.86 0.9. High Temperature Behavior of Dual Phase Steels

Dual phase steels with different martensite volume fraction and morphology were tensile tested at a temperature range of 25 to 5500C. Stress-strain curves of all steels showed serration flow at temperatures of 250 and 3500C, and smooth flow at the other temperatures. Both yield and ultimate tensile strengths increased with increasing testing temperature up to about 450<sup...

Damage Behavior in Modern Automotive High Strength Dual Phase Steels During Uniaxial Tensile Deformation

In the present research, damage mechanisms during room temperature uniaxial tensile testing of two different modern high strength dual phase steels,DP780 and DP980, were studied. Detailed microstructural characterization of the strained and sectioned samples was performed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results revealed that interface decohesion, especially at the triple junctions of...

Ultra-Fine Grained Dual-Phase Steels

This paper provides an overview on obtaining low-carbon ultra-fine grained dual-phase steels through rapid intercritical annealing of cold-rolled sheet as improved materials for automotive applications. A laboratory processing route was designed that involves cold-rolling of a tempered martensite structure followed by a second tempering step to produce a fine grained aggregate of ferrite and ca...

Transformation induced plasticity assisted steels: stress or strain affected martensitic transformation?

Transformation induced plasticity (TRIP) assisted steels contain a small quantity of carbon enriched retained austenite, which transforms into martensite during the course of plastic deformation. Transformation of this kind can be induced by both stress and plastic strain. The detailed mechanism by which the martensite is induced is different for these two scenarios. An attempt is made here to ...
